The goal of this project, was to create a scene that incorporated the ability to use Material Transition and Particle Effects in Unreal Engine 4.
For the setting of the scene, I used the Warhammer 40,000 Universe by Games Workshop. A universe that is filled with super soldiers and warfare. Following a sci-fi twist on the Victorian Gothic Era architecture called “High Gothic”. I wanted to create a scene that showed the aftermath of a battle that occurred on a barren red rock planet.
My scene reference’s consisted of primarily images from the Afghanistan and Iraq war to attempt to set the tone of warfare and to create accurate particle effects that may exist in these situations.
For the environment assets, I looked primarily at the surface of mars and any desert that may consist of red rock or red sand. Using Red as my primary color scheme for use in set dressing.
